Lambertville, New Jersey

While biking along the Delaware River in Lambertville, New Jersey, I came across this abandoned train car 🚊👻
I couldn’t find a lot of information about its history, but from what I was able to gather online, it seems to be the remnant of a former baggage car. Unfortunately, I was also unable to determine what railroad line it was from. It’s possible that it was part of the Black River and Western Railroad, but I can’t say for certain.
Additionally, I couldn’t find any information about how long it has been abandoned. However, judging solely on the condition of the train, I would assume that it’s been sitting for quite some time now. The tracks alone are hidden by overgrown vegetation, suggesting that it has most likely been abandoned for several decades.

Regardless, this train was still a really cool find! As I walked through it, I couldn’t help but wonder what it must have been like to ride in it when it was still in use.
You can find the train car along the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park trail, about 3/4 of a mile north of the Lambertville Station Restaurant and Inn.
After your adventure, make sure to check out downtown as well. Lambertville is home to beautiful architecture, charming shops, and great restaurants. There’s really so much to do in this town. It’s a great day-trip option and right across the river from New Hope, PA!
If anyone has any information about this train, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
